Hello there. I’m so proud of this song and what it represents for the growth of myself as an artist. I don’t know if I ever publicly confirmed this, but this started out as a Dom Baza re-recording. As you know, I set out to re-record certain songs from my DB back catalog, starting with “Christmas Time” in 2022. As the Finally Me production progressed, it didn’t feel like a re-recording. Hence why it was never promoted that way. It’s a new entity based off of that original song released 10 years ago in 2014. I actually wrote this song when I was 17 years old. 12 whole years ago. Tbh I never really felt like it represented what Dom Baza was about back in the day. I now know that 17 year old DB wrote this song for 28/29-onward Roy Loverboy Lucian to sing. I’ve never related to this song more than I do now. DB manifested a new life for these lyrics 12 years later. That’s why I’ve been saying, it’s a personal and professional reboot, but still very much so acknowledging and honoring my past as Dom Baza and of course the “Roy” album and films era. I truly do hope you’ll hear that growth vocally and lyrically as this song is finally free, I’m finally me, and it’s finally yours.

I want to thank everyone who has worked on / impacted Finally Me. My producing partner, Ben Wilkins. The big brother that has always went above and beyond what a producer and a friend should do for their client. This song kickstarted the creation process for Loverboy, and I’m so excited for everyone to hear how you also leveled up on this album. Ant Rojas, my other creative partner. The little brother, I always wished I had, but now I do. I’m looking forward for everyone to see the music video that opens the Loverboy Lucian visual world, spearheaded by you. I’ll talk way more about you later… C.C Thomas Jr. Mr Thomas, I loved working with you and hearing your stories about the industry. You elevated this song so much.  Ricky Matatute. Dude, just wait til everyone hears the rest of your killer percussion on this album! I’m very stoked! Nelson Miller. You literally only sang one note in this, but it’s a beautiful note, haha. Just wait til everyone hears you on the full album. Mike Abrams. You’re my right hand on stage, and on this album. I’m so proud of you and very grateful you got slay the drums on this song, on stage and in the studio. James Earley. I want to thank you for introducing DB to the deeper R&B world 12 years ago. This is not the song you worked on, but it wouldn’t exist without your direction you gave teenage DB so long ago. Benny Hofmann. As I said earlier this week, thank you for suggesting that new ending. Thank you for believing that I can finally be free. 

I’ll have so much more to say and many more to thank when the album releases. Otherwise we would be sitting here for a long time, lol. But I just wanted to thank everyone who worked on this track. It is such an important milestone for my career, and it would be selfish of me to not bring up anybody who impacted this song. There’s still 9 more songs coming your way within the new album. You’re getting that release date later this month 😜 And be on the look out for that and for news on the upcoming Finally Me music video.
